Mr. President!

We had a very fun day on Friday! Our friend and pastor's son, Jeff Pickering is a junior at A&M and has been running for student body president. Campaign week was two weeks ago, and this past week was election week. The first election was on Monday and Tuesday, and Tuesday night, Jeff found out he was in the run-off with another girl! The run-off elections were Thursday and Friday, so on Friday night a big group of us from LJ drove up to College Station to be with the Pickerings when the results came in. We have just been so proud of Jeff and were so excited to celebrate with him either way!

We got to College Station mid-afternoon and went out to the house Greg and Kathy were renting to hang out and then eat some dinner. The kids had so much fun running around the property. This is the same house we stayed in when we met Michelle in CS before she left for Africa.


Lots of friends came! The Mitterlings, Sanders, Beams, Debbie, Fonda, and Amy, and then our friends that are current students were there as well. Micaela, Callan, and Peter all helped on Jeff's campaign staff and were all-stars!

Some of the kids wore "Pick Pickering" shirts, some wore Aggie clothes, but Kendall had to wear her brown and pink dress. What a ham!

We wanted to get a picture of Jeff with all the kids, but some of the kids needed their mommies to hold them. So here is Jeff with the babies and the baby mamas. :)

Around 7 we left to head to campus to hear the results! We waited in Koldus for awhile, and Kendall had fun dancing on the seal. She was so funny about this back pack - she packed it for the road trip and then kept it with her the whole time. I think she even slept with it when we got home that night.

The results were announced at the Sul Ross statue in the academic plaza. That's right next to the Century tree, so I had to get a picture of Kendall under the tree, even though it was dark.

And....he won!! By 62% of the vote!! I can't even believe he is the student body president of Texas A&M! Such a big deal. We are so proud of him and can't wait to hear about all his adventures! After the crowd died down a little we took a picture of all the Lake Jackson people with the new president!

It was fun to get to go to A&M with the girls and celebrate with our friends. What a great night!

6 Months Old!

Cooper was six months old last week! We went for her six month check-up today, so I wanted to wait until now to post all her stats and pictures. She is growing so fast and I can't believe she is already half a year old!

At the doctor today, she weighed 17 lbs 7 oz, which is in the 75th percentile. She is 26 inches long, which is the 60th percentile, and her head was 42 1/2 cm, which is the 50th percentile. The doctor said everything looks great and that you can tell from those thighs that she is still nursing! Ha!

Sweet girl had to get one oral vaccine and three shots...she did not like those! Poor thing. She has been sleeping all morning since then, but I'm about to have to go wake her up to feed her.

Cooper, here is some of what you are doing at 6 months:

• eating cereal two meals a day, nursing four times at 7:30, 11:30, 4:30 and 8:00
• sleeping from 8-7:30 at night, and taking three naps during the day
• holding your baby while you sleep
• sitting up for short periods of time by yourself
• talking to us and your sister a ton!
• smiling all the time! You are such a happy and easy-going baby and you never fuss!
• reaching for and grabbing things you want. You can also transfer things like your sass from hand to hand and put it in your mouth by yourself!
• playing on your playmat, in your exersaucer, or in your bumbo a lot.
• making us so happy!! You are so sweet and cuddly and we just love having you in our world.

Kendall's Little Bed

One thing Kendall loves to do lately is sleep on her "little bed" - her trundle bed. When I tell her it's time to take a nap, she asks if it is going to be a little nap or a long nap. A little nap is her nap. A long nap is bedtime at night. If it's a little nap during the day, I let her sleep on her little bed. We haven't tried it at night yet - even though we leave it on the floor, I still don't like that it doesn't have a rail on it. So we just take little naps on it.

Last Friday when Randy was off, we went shopping in the morning and then came home for naptime. I was changing Cooper and getting her ready for a nap and Kendall asked me to come read to her. So I just brought Cooper in with me before I got her dressed and the girls layed on the little bed while I read.

Cooper loves to lay with Kendall and Kendall is very careful with her. I was telling our friend Melissa last night about how good Kendall is with Cooper. We have never seen her be jealous, possessive of us or annoyed that Cooper is around. She is always genuinely happy to be with her, wants to help, and just loves that she is here. We are so thankful!!

Kendall says, "Mom, when Cooper gets big, she can sleep in my little bed wif me?" There are lots of things that Kendall is excited about Cooper doing when she gets big. :)

First Cereal!

We gave Cooper cereal for the first time this past week! She is so interested in what we are eating all the time - she reaches out for our cups, food, anything we are eating like she just wants to try some so bad! She sleeps great and is getting so big, so we weren't in a hurry to start solids, but we thought since she has been so interested in what we eat lately, we would go ahead and get started.

Not too sure about that first bite! She made a face, but she kept opening her mouth and reaching for more! I'm not too sure if she is interested more in the spoon or in what's on it! She seems to enjoy gumming the spoon more than eating the food!

Kendall was so intrigued by the idea of Cooper getting to begin eating. She wanted to watch and help and she just talked and talked to her sister.

She even got to feed her a bite herself!

We started with whole grain rice cereal, and I think next week we will start on some vegetables!

Since her birthday is August 31, she didn't really have a 6 month birthday! We have 6 month pictures though, and we will post those next week after we go to the doctor for her checkup. The past 6 months have gone by too fast! Slow down, Coop!

Teething!

Cooper is for sure full on teething! Sweet girl is trying to chew on everything and drools all the time. I ran to the store tonight to get some infant tylenol and decided to pick up some teething biscuits while I was there.

Earlier today I was eating some Wheat-thins while I fed her. She stopped eating and reached for my hand, trying to get me to put the Wheat-thin in her mouth. I did, and she loved gumming it. When I took it away, she would cry! So funny!
She loved the teething biscuit, but didn't like it when chunks would break off. She hasn't started solid foods yet, and she had no idea what to do with having something in her mouth.

I got some "Baby Mum-Mums" (?) also. I never saw these when Kendall was teething, but I think they are some kind of baby rice cake. Weird. Anyway, Cooper really liked teething on this, but it would break apart really easily and she didn't like it when some would break off in her mouth.

Kendall loved helping me give her the teething biscuits. She is going to have so much fun helping us feed her cereal soon!

Anytime I would take the biscuit away, she would fuss. So, I got the camera out...and of course she wouldn't do it. But she's cute and so is this video. :)

Cooper's First Valentine's Day!

Cooper had a fun first Valentine's Day! She is getting so big and is so close to being able to sit for a long time all by herself.
Randy took the three of us on a lunch date to....Chick-a-lay! Where else?! He also surprised me and the girls with presents when he came home, but I forgot to take any pictures of them! He got me some beautiful pink tulips, Kendall a princess mailbox that talks, some Little Debbie Valentine hearts, pink juice boxes, and cards for all of us! What a great Valentine!
The girls also got Valentine's presents from all their grandparents! Pops and Kiki brought candy, stickers, and cards when they came the weekend before. Cooper was asleep, so Kendall opened her presents for her.

On Monday, Granny and Papas sent a Valentine's package full of goodies for the girls. Their most favorite part...Bucee's cups!

They also got Valentine's plates and bowls, stickers, and even one of Granny's students sent a Biscuit book for Kendall!

And a little later in the week they got another package in the mail...from Gigi and Peeps!

cards, stickers, and

new clothes! They got the girls matching spring outfits that are so cute. Even though it was bedtime, Kendall wanted both her and Cooper to try on their new clothes. So cute!
